I admit this Greenville engagement session was one that truly pushed my boundaries to date for several reasons. Something I pride myself on as a photographer is developing a relationship with my clients prior to shooting. I didn’t have that luxury in this case because Khoa & An aren’t local – and that became the first of a few obstacles I encountered. We spent the first hour of the session building a relationship, and as we progressed into the shoot, I discovered that this couple was quite camera shy. Last but not least, I had the issue of harsh lighting despite shooting late in the afternoon – this only intensified the undesired green light plastered across my shots.
However, with a few important tweaks and brisk improvisation, I was able to capture images that deeply reflect the love and joy of Khoa & An. Though there are always lessons to be taken from every shoot, this one proved just how crucial it is for a photographer to be quick in their observations, decisions, and actions – and really showed me the extent of my potential. Hope you enjoy them as much as I do.
