Last weekend, I took a spontaneous getaway trip to western North Carolina and immediately fell in love with its beauty. It was a revelation that I don’t take advantage of the scenic locations around me enough considering this was my first time cruising along the Blue Ridge Parkway – and I have been living in Charlotte for over 20 years! Unfortunately, I was about a week late since many of the trees had already lost most of their leaves; however, the view was striking nonetheless. I started off at Blowing Rock then drove through the North Carolina Blue Ridge Parkway, making stops at the overlooks along the way, and then landed at my final destination in Linville Falls. The iconic views beckon another trip soon!
The next day, I headed for Asheville and the infamous Biltmore Estate. The tickets were surprisingly expensive but totally worth it. I was amazed at the architectural details and meticulously kempt gardens. The amazing views are a photographer’s dream come true – and it would be the ultimate dream to shoot a wedding here!
Although this was my first, it certainly won’t be my last. Hope you enjoy this small sliver of my travels!
