Hoa & Thao are prime examples of clients who become my friends. They’re so down-to-earth and welcoming along with the rest of their family. I’m grateful to have developed such a wonderful relationship with them these last few months because it made shooting their wedding feel so natural and seamless.
The wedding was broken up into two days – the traditional tea ceremony and the reception – and it proved to be effective despite having to make multiple trips. Hoa and Thao did an excellent job planning the flow of their day, which is always a huge benefit to any photographer. The church was beyond grand with natural light spilling in at all angles and illuminating my subjects like angels. I also love how the traditional set turned out like old Chinese cinematography and was surprised at how beautifully the Bridge Event Center photographed. And in case you can’t tell, we returned to Furman University for the couples session. It was a beautiful weekend for a wedding!
Shooting this wedding at the Bridge Event Center in Greenville, SC reinforced my ability to perform in low light. The black ceilings and dark walls didn’t give me much light or reflective properties to work with, but I’m still pleased with the results. I’ve learned that being quick and agile really saves the day because you don’t have the luxury of fiddling around with your settings. Plus, nothing comes easy under pressure. Here are my favorites from this wedding…
