Recently, I headed back south for Richard and Kim’s engagement in Charleston, SC. I was excited because this marks my last session of 2017. These two have never been professionally photographed before, so they were a little camera shy at the beginning, but it took them no time to warm up and be themselves in front of the lens. By the end of the shoot, they were so natural that the chemistry and emotions were a breeze to capture. We spent an entire day in Charleston starting at the Magnolia Gardens, then downtown, and finally ended the shoot during the beautiful sunset on the beach. I couldn’t be happier with how these turned out.
I have mentioned before that any experienced photographer is sensitive to the subtlest changes in light. You all know by now that I’ve shot in Charleston many times before, but there’s a first for everything – and this is my first time in the fall. I immediately noticed how different the light was despite my many encounters in Charleston as soon as I began shooting. I’ve concluded that the quality of light changes throughout the seasons – and fall is officially my favorite season to shoot as it exudes the most flattering light even when the sun is at its highest point when compared to Summer. I presume this is because the sun’s changing angle as we move through the seasons. But enough with the technical stuff, we’ll save that for another day.
So, here it is again, another wonderful engagement session in Charleston…
